urbanonto is a domain ontology designed at the Institute of History, Polish Academy of Sciences for the purpose of data standardisation among i.e. various volumes of the Historical Atlas of Towns publish under the umbrella of the Comittee of the History of Towns. The ontology provides descriptions and definitions of classes of physical objects and their topological relations within the urban area, focusing on European towns.

The urbanonto is maintaned by employees of the Department of Historical Atlas, where it was developed originally. Currently, urbanonto has been developed by the HiSMaComp project team. The maintenance schedule of the ontology in the future is to be decided.
