Often library and museum information is taken to be equivalent. On the other side many attempts of unification have failed in the past. The understanding of the real commonalities and differences, and the analysis of the real needs for common information access or for relating information is crucial to the mission of the CRM. The discussion has not always been conducted with the due objectivity and care in the past.
Museum experts to start with objective formulations of the perceived differences between museum and library information and the common information needs. This could leed to a kind of Memorandum of Understanding between representatives of both sides.
